For more than 25 years, I've had the privilege of teaching mathematics and physics to students around the world.
After getting my undergraduate Physics degree at the University of Colorado at Boulder, my first job teaching was as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Malawi, Africa. This was followed by a master's degree in climatology/atmospheric science at Oregon State University as well as teacher training. Since then, my career has taken me across seven countries, where I've taught Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) in international schools. Besides teaching, I have also been in administrative positions (IB Diploma Coordinator and School-wide Technology Director), developed curricula, and helped literally thousands of students prepare for some of the world's most demanding academic programs. For 10 years I have also served as an examiner for the IB (Theory of Knowledge). Along the way, I've learned that great teaching isn't simply about explaining difficult ideas - it's about giving students the confidence to believe they can master them.
Today, I specialize in one-on-one tutoring for IB Mathematics, IB Physics, AP Calculus, AP Physics, Algebra, and related courses (including Theory of Knowledge). Whether a student is aiming for a perfect exam score, preparing for university admissions, or simply trying to rebuild confidence after struggling in class, my goal is always the same: to help each student understand the material deeply rather than memorize procedures.
Every lesson is tailored to the individual student. Some students need careful explanations and steady encouragement. Others thrive on challenging problems and rapid progress. My job is to identify how each student learns best and adapt my teaching accordingly.
Over the years, many of my students have gone on to attend outstanding universities throughout North America, Europe, and Asia. While I'm proud of those results, what means even more to me is hearing from students months or years later to say that they no longer fear mathematics or physics - that they actually enjoy them.
Outside of teaching, I'm also an artist and musician. Creativity has always been an important part of my life, and I believe it influences the way I teach. Mathematics and physics are not just collections of formulas; they are elegant ways of understanding the world. Helping students discover that beauty is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.
